Fashionistas around the globe flock to Italy. And for good reason. Italy is well-known for it’s fabulous shoes and handbags. Some of the greatest designers in the world come from Italy. Dolce and Gabbana anyone? If you are one of the many who will travel to Italy, you’ll want to do so in style. Here are some tips to keep in mind for how to dress in the fashion inspired world known as Italy.

1.    Think about what you want to see. Sometimes, your wardrobe can keep you out of some of the tourist attractions you’d like to visit. Many churches and religious buildings have very strict dress codes. This means no bare shoulders, midriffs, or bare knees. In the summer time when the heat is stifling, you may be tempted to wear shorts and tank tops. But if you want to get into some of the churches, you’ll have to rethink that fashion choice.

2.    Stick to the neutrals. Dark t-shirts and dark pants will serve you best. This is especially helpful if you need to pack light because you can mix and match many of your clothes to make more outfits.

3.    Add color with a scarf. You’ll find scarves to come in really handy as you travel Italy. A scarf also comes in handy if you are wearing a tank top and want to go into one of the churches with a strict dress code. You could easily wrap the scarf around your bare shoulders.

4.    Avoid flip flops. This is actually good advice for anywhere in Europe. Most Europeans do not wear flip flops. Instead, stick to ballet flats or other comfortable shoes. But like the flip flops, leave the white sneakers home.

Traveling to Italy can be an amazing experience. Keep these tips in mind and you’ll fit right in with the locals in no time.
