It seems like Europe takes many of its music cues from the Americans. You can head to any city in Europe, from London to Prague, and you’re likely to hear some familiar tunes. However, a different song is being sung in Germany. Lately, Germans have taken to their own and have chosen to listen to bands from Germany instead of seeking for music from the Untied States.

One of the reasons for this new love of German music is new band, Tokio Hotel. This band won newcomer of the year by MTV and has played a huge role in influencing Germans to listen to local music. Young Germans are now choosing to listen to music with German lyrics because of bands like Tokio Hotel.

Other bands have also contributed to this movement. Fraulein Wunder, Killerpilze, and Lady Bitch Ray are also producing tunes in their native tongue. It seems the Germans, especially the younger crowd, are really embracing this new music. It’s now considered cool to listen to German music, rather than songs with English lyrics.
The next time you are traveling abroad, don’t be surprised if you don’t hear as much music in English. In fact, you may hear more songs not only in German, but in French, Italian, and other European languages. The trend set in Germany seems to be moving across Europe, with more countries taking a liking to music song in their own native language.

With the way Tokio Hotel has exploded, you may even be hearing some German music in the United States. Don’t be surprised if the next time you turn on the radio you hear some unfamiliar lyrics. You may even want to start brushing up on your German so you can understand the words being sung. Either way, you’re going to love the catching tunes and you’ll soon be tapping your foot to the new sounds.
