Our friends in Great Britain have often been a source to look to for fashion advice. And it’s no wonder. With some of the largest fashion houses in the world centered in London and the Royal Family, style and fashion means everything in England. Let’s take a look at some of the more popular British fashions of the moment.
1. Tweed. From skirts to shoes to bags, tweed seems to be really big. You’ll see tweed everywhere from the office to the cocktail party.
2. Go for plaid. It seems many in the British Isles are taking fashion advice from their friends to the North in Scotland. Plaid abounds and seems to be the perfect pattern for all things casual.
3. Add some color. Berry and brown are hot colors in England. Mix the two and you’ve got a real fashion trend on your hands. It’s time to break out of the usual neutrals and add some color.
4. Big bow blouse. You’ll see many English women sporting the bow blouse. This blouse is whimsical and romantic.
5. Accessories. And lots of them. You can wear lots of big, bold necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings. Sometimes even all together. It’s all about the accessories in England this year.
6. Hats. For men and women. It seems that everyone, old and young, male and female, are wearing hats around town. The younger crowd seems especially excited about hats. Could this have anything to do with the future Princess Kathryn?
7. Belts. Along with the accessories, women are adding belts to their wardrobes. It’s especially hip to wear a belt with a jacket. Plus, it really accentuates the waist.
8. Long skirts. It seems the day of the minis is gone. Long skirts in flowing fabrics are making a come back in a big way.
Take a cue from our friends across the pond and try some of these British fashion trends.
